Personalisation of Public Digital Terminals for all

06/03/2013Europe's first dispensing machine for medicines installed at a hospital in Madrid.

Its look & feel is similar to an ATM

The General University Hospital Gregorio Marañón in Madrid has recently set up this pioneer machine, intended for chronic patients not requiring hospitalisation but needing specific medication not available at pharmacies.

At present only patients meeting a certain criteria use this automatic medication machine. The system has many advantages, both for the patients and the hospital staff:

  • greater control, safety and efficiency,
  • save both time and inventory costs,
  • ease the stock control,
  • warns about replacement,
  • medicines are distributed in less than 40 seconds.

However, the press release does not mention if this new machine is accessible.

More information is available at the ePractice website (in English) and at the Europa Press news agency (in Spanish).
